Versitol - Bunker Outer Shell Cleaner:
Versitol removes smoke residue from all washable fabrics and surfaces including Kevlar®, Nomex®, duck, nylon, PBI, Hypalon®, Nitrile rubber and fiberglass.
Today’s modern turnout gear is the principle barrier between the firefighter and extreme danger! Toxic residues and dangerously combustible hydrocarbon deposits become embedded in the fabric of the turnout and pose a constant threat to the firefighter as long as they remain.
Heavy hydrocarbon deposits can absorb as much as 30% more radiant heat as clean, light colored turnouts!
Versitol was constructed with consideration to the manufacturers of the specialized fibers used in turnouts. It was designed using safe, effective chelates, sequestriants and surfactants which, when used in a routine maintenance program, will reduce or eliminate much of the visible hydrocarbons and the toxins contained therein. Versitol can restore most of the garment’s original properties designed to protect the professional firefighter.
Versitol is a highly effective yet gentle multi-purpose cleaner that is safe for all automatic washing machines.
Specialty Fabric Cleaner - Inner Line Cleaner:
Specialty Fabric Cleaner effectively cleans all high-tech fabrics such as
GORE-TEX® without leaving residues which impair breathability and water resistance.
Moisture barrier fabrics were placed in turnout gear to help dissipate moisture and expel heat to keep the fire fighter cooler and more comfortable by allowing perspiration vapor to escape the garment and preventing water from penetrating to the skin.
Perspiration salts, skin oils, dirt and hydrocarbons block the micro-pores of these fabrics and hinder the benefits of using barrier fabrics as liners. In order to restore the qualities of these fabrics, a cleaning system had to be designed to pass through the micro-pores, flush out all the trapped soils and oils, and still rinse residue free.
Specialty Fabric Cleaner is a concentration of chelates, surfactants and sequestriants designed specifically to rinse away all the residues and hydrocarbons without leaving any “soap” residue which could impair the integrity of the fabric.

Versitol
Decontamination of turnout gear and uniforms: Use 1/4-1/2 cup of Versitol per conventional wash load. Do not overload machine to assure efficient cleaning and rinsing. Wash in cool water cycle with a double rinse if possible. Hang garments on large plastic hangers to air dry.
Decontamination of equipment: Mix 2 to 4 ounces of Versitol in a bucket of water. Spray or pour solution over each piece of equipment or tool to be cleaned and brush carefully with a soft brush. Rinse carefully and dry.
Trucks, vehicles and floors: Mix 1 to 2 ounces of Versitol in a bucket of water. Wash as usual brushes, sponges or towels. Rinse thoroughly. Versitol will not harm finishes or waxes when used properly.
Tires: Spray a solution of 4 ounces per gallon of water on each tire and allow stand for a few moments. Scrub in thoroughly with a stiff brush and rinse.
Windows and wind screens: Mix a solution of 1/3 ounce Versitol for each gallon of water. Spray on windows and wipe clean with a clean, soft, dry cloth. Versitol will remove even the heaviest smoke and soot residues easily.
Specialty Fabric Cleaner
Hand washing: Remove inner liners from turnout gear and inspect for stains or heavily soiled areas. Apply a small amount of Specialty Fabric Cleaner directly onto those stains. Use no more than one ounce in a basin of water per garment. Soak garment in solution for a few minutes, gently massaging garment to force solution through the fabric. Empty basin and refill with clean, warm water. Massage once more to remove all traces of cleaner and soil residues. Squeeze water from garment - DO NOT WRING. Roll garment in a dry terry towel to remove last of excess moisture and either machine dry on cool cycle or hang on a clean, plastic hanger until dry.
Machine washing: Use 1/2 to 1 ounce of Specialty Fabric Cleaner per conventional wash load. Apply cleaner directly to any stains or soils and wash on gentle, warm cycle. Machine dry on cool cycle or hang on a clean, plastic hanger to dry.
Decontamination Aid: Use Specialty Fabric Cleaner at the fire scene to aid in removing contaminated residues when rinsing off. When brushed in, Specialty Fabric Cleaner will remove much of the soil build-up on the turnout gear without harming the more delicate inner liner below.
