SECTION VI - HEALTH HAZARD DATA - CONT.

 

SKIN AND EYE CONTACT HEALTH RISKS AND SYMPTOMS OF EXPOSURE: 

EYE       MAY CAUSE EYE IRRITATION. ORGANISMS USED ARE NONPATHOGENIC BUT CAN CAUSE INFECTION WHEN IN CONTACT WITH OPEN WOUNDS. THESE ORGANISMS ARE SUSCEPTIBLE TO MANY COMMONLY USED ANTIBIOTICS.

SKIN      SLIGHT REDNESS ON HANDS AND FOREARMS, IF INDIVIDUAL HAS A HISTORY OF DERMAL ALLERGIC REACTION. DERMATITIS AND SKIN SENSITIZATION CAN DEVELOP AFTER REPEATED AND/OR PROLONGED CONTACT WITH HUMAN SKIN.

INGESTION HEALTH RISKS AND SYMPTOMS OF EXPOSURE:  NO EFFECT IF INGESTED IN SMALL AMOUNTS. RELATIVE TO OTHER MATERIALS, A SINGLE DOSE OF THIS PRODUCT IS RARELY TOXIC BY INGESTION. IRRITATION OF THE MOUTH, PHARYNX, ESOPHAGUS AND STOMACH CAN DEVELOP FOLLOWING INGESTION.

CARCINOGENICITY: THIS MATERIAL IS NOT CONSIDERED TO BE A CARCINOGEN BY THE NATIONAL TOXICOLOGY PROGRAM, THE INTERNATIONAL AGENCY FOR RESEARCH ON CANCER, OR THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTRATION.

EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES:

EYES     IRRIGATE WITH FLOWING WATER IMMEDIATELY AND CONTINUOUSLY FOR 15 MINUTES. CONSULT MEDICAL PERSONNEL.

SKIN      WASH OFF IN FLOWING WATER OR SHOWER. REMOVE CONTAMINATED CLOTHING AND WASH BEFORE REUSE.

INGESTION DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. RINSE MOUTH WITH WATER, THEN DRINK ONE GLASS OF WATER OR MILK. CONTACT A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY.

INHALATION  REMOVE TO FRESH AIR. IF NOT BREATHING, GIVE MOUTH TO MOUTH RESUSCITATION. IF BREATHING IS DIFFICULT, GIVE OXYGEN. CALL A PHYSICIAN.          

 

SECTION VII - PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING AND USE

 

STEPS TO BE TAKEN IN CASE MATERIAL IS RELEASED OR SPILLED:

SMALL SPILL- ABSORB LIQUID ON PAPER, VERMICULITE, FLOOR ABSORBENT OR OTHER ABSORBENT MATERIAL AND TRANSFER TO LABELED CONTAINERS.

LARGE SPILL- STOP SPILL AT SOURCE, DIKE AREA OF SPILL TO PREVENT SPREADING, PUMP LIQUID INTO SALVAGE TANK. REMAINING LIQUID MAY BE TAKEN UP ON SAND , CLAY, FLOOR ABSORBENT OR OTHER ABSORBENT MATERIAL AND SHOVELED INTO LABELED CONTAINERS.

WASTE DISPOSAL METHOD:  REVIEW FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT REQUIREMENTS PRIOR TO DISPOSAL.      

PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN IN HANDLING AND STORING:  EXERCISE REASONABLE CARE AND CAUTION. STORE IN A COOL  DRY PLACE.

OTHER PRECAUTIONS:  CONTAINERS OF THIS MATERIAL MAY BE HAZARDOUS WHEN EMPTIED, SINCE EMPTIED CONTAINERS RETAIN PRODUCT RESIDUES (VAPOR, LIQUID AND/OR SOLIDS), ALL HAZARD PRECAUTIONS GIVEN IN THE DATA SHEET MUST BE OBSERVED.

RESPIRATORY PROTECTION:  NONE REQUIRED, AVOID CREATING AEROSOL MISTS IN POORLY VENTILATED AREAS.

VENTILATION:  PROVIDE GENERAL OR MECHANICAL VENTILATION OR LOCAL EXHAUST TO KEEP VAPOR CONCENTRATIONS BELOW TLV OF MATERIALS IN SECTION II AND LEL IN SECTION IV.

PROTECTIVE GLOVES:  USE IMPERMEABLE GLOVES TO PREVENT PROLONGED SKIN CONTACT.

EYE PROTECTION: USE SAFETY EYE-WEAR DESIGNED TO PROTECT EYES AGAINST LIQUID SPLASH AND MISTS. CHEMICAL FACE SHIELD RECOMMENDED. CONSULT YOUR SAFETY EQUIPMENT SUPPLIER.

OTHER PROTECTIVE CLOTHING OR EQUIPMENT:  USE PROTECTIVE CLOTHING TO PREVENT SKIN CONTACT. USE HEAD CAPS, BOOTS, CHEMICAL APRONS WHEN NECESSARY.

WORK/HYGIENIC PRACTICES: EYE WASHES AND SAFETY SHOWERS IN THE WORK-PLACE ARE RECOMMENDED. WASH HANDS AFTER USING.  MONITOR EXPOSURE LEVELS.
